Firewall? Grrrrrrrrrr!

We recently switched from dialup to satellite (HughesNet). We had to use a router because I work online with my laptop, but the HughesNet modem is connected to my husband's desktop. He plays games--OFFLINE--while I'm connected. He has the Microsoft firewall set to On with NO EXCEPTIONS, and Internet Expolorer set to "work offline" but he keeps getting interrupted in the middle of his game with ads from the Internet. How can we stop this? (I'M READY TO KILL SOMETHING!)

Re: Firewall? Grrrrrrrrrr!

Hey Suz, nothing to with the firewall, you have some malware, adware, spyware or scumware on his computer. Make sure you have Service Pack 2 installed, make sure messenger service is turned off (not to be confused with Windows Messenger) easiest thing to do? Install Microsoft Windows Defender http://www.microsoft.com/athome/securit … fault.mspx and then go here and download Avast! http://thecastle.net/spyware.shtml and all the other goodies including Spybot and Adaware.
