Firefox and plugins

I find Firefox to be a great browser, but some of it's Options do not work well. Even though I set 'File Types' to download they will still run in the browser. Before I would just uninstall them, like I did for Adobe Flash. However since Secondlife requires Quicktime I don't want to just unstall it.

With changing Firefox's 'File Types' not working how can I assure that Firefox downloads Quicktime movies, insted of playing them?

Re: Firefox and plugins

Well the good news is that the earlier versions of Firefox constantly defaulted to Qucktime for all movies, it took them forever to change that! Your right the only solution that seems to work is to uninstall Quicktime completely, one of the only real bad things about Firefox. I submitted that to Mozilla a long time ago, apparently they must get funding from Apple! I don't use Quicktime at all anymore but I remember something about going into control panel and changing the Quicktime settings to "Not" download or play automatically, something like that

Edit -> Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences -> Browser Tab ->

uncheck "Play movies automatically"

To be honest I don't even remember if that worked...?
