NALC Food Drive... Saturday, May 12th

To call attention  to your Postal Employee's.  City Letter Carriers and Rural Letter Carrier's  in over 10,000 cities and towns across America will collect boxes and cans of nonperishable food provided by their customers and bring them to local food banks for those in need
Last year this resulted in about 70.5 millon pounds of food for this one day event.

To take part all you have to do is put your donation by your mail box and the carrier will pick it up Saturday, May 12th.

If you have a question about this, talk to your letter carrier or call the post office to let them know you will be taking part in this one day event so that your letter carrier can make sure they are prepaired pick up something at your box for your community food bank.

Isn't great to know your postal employee's are a working part of your community!!

Ninershark, as a matter of fact, YES, we do look forward to this event to be a part of helping hand for those less fortunate than us within our respected communities. (I say WE, since I helped over the years as a carrier, but now am retired. )   And so to get your statement correct.. the carriers are offering the extra time to do this on their own time and not at the expense of the Postal Service or you the public.  Are we thrilled... LOL.   I ask you, when you offer your time for free to charity are you thrilled..LOL?  Or do you volunteer your services at any time during the year to a charity?  And yes, I am sure you are appreciated too.

Geez, was my facetious statement negative? I love my postman, he is the best! Cheers me up everyday. Take it easy Rick. Can't anyone say anything on this forum anymore without getting beat up? You will find I am a very "tongue in cheek" poster and furthermore I give away more money and charity to others than I do to myself.

Yea, I'm back..... Also to say THANK YOU  everyone!!  I am told this years NALC Can Food Drive was exceptional.  Not only in Redding, but through out the USA.   One carrier was recorded to have brought in 5,800 lbs from her route!

Great to be an American!!    Yea and a Westener too!!
