I finally just got around to reading all the latest and greatest surrounding the proposed condo tower project on Bechelli Lane

Here , here,  and maybe Here amongst others.

On Marc Beauchamp's blog, Damon Miller voiced my thoughts exactly: "Oooh! A eight-story glass tower? Let's pull over and see what this place is all about!"

To me, it seems that Les Melburg is trying to do what architects do best: Building short sited monuments to themselves.

Bluff top/lassen view issues aside, building a similar structure downtown would make far more sense: It will draw businesses downtown to immediately service the condo residents needs, rather than forcing them to drive out to Hilltop or Bechelli (sorry Ken) or Cypress, create more congestion. Traffic would be less impacted, as having nearby business would be far more accessible by foot.

The condo on the bluff idea seems laughable and transparent, like a square adult desperately trying to appeals to a trendy teen's sensibilities.

What do you guys think? Am I way off base?
