May 1 immigrant boycott aims to "close" US cities

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pro-immigration activists say a national boycott and marches planned for May 1 will flood America's streets with millions of Latinos to demand amnesty for illegal immigrants and shake the ground under Congress as it debates reform.

"Organizers have timed the action for May Day, a date when workers around the world often march for improved conditions, and have strong support from big labor and the Roman Catholic church. They vow that America's major cities will grind to a halt and its economy will stagger as Latinos walk off their jobs and skip school."

Seems to be a good day to do some firing! What ever happened to the good ole days when you did something illegal, you were actually punished.

Shelli,

Here is a quote from an online Arizona newspaper explaining the Mexican boycott:

"The boycott, dubbed "A Day Without an Immigrant," is building on the momentum of massive marches across the country that protested proposed legislation that would turn illegal immigrants into felons. Organizers are urging participants not to buy, sell, send money abroad, make phone calls to Mexico or go to work or school."

I am going to "Support America" and go out on Monday and buy a lot of high dollar computer gear.

The more we buy the less impact it will make.  So if you can, put off buying anything until Monday.

Does anyone know of a good, local computer store?  Redding or Chico?
