Dear Residents of Shasta County,
We invite you to an evening of entertainment that will provide desperately needed aid to a Shasta County family in medical crisis.
My name is Jeanie Summers. I am the Guild Mistress of St. Valerius’ Acting Guild of Redding. My guild and I are hosting a fundraising event to provide the funding needed to purchase a wheelchair accessible van for a family who’s fourteen year old child is undergoing follow up cancer treatment exams in San Francisco.
The child that we are holding this fundraiser for was recently gifted a new adult-size wheelchair. Although this is a blessing, this new wheelchair will not fit in the family vehicle. Their car is a high mileage sedan that is rapidly becoming unreliable. The child continues to travel on a six month basis to San Francisco for follow-up M.R.I.’s and invasive urological exams. Government funding only provides transportation for the child and one other parent to these examinations. These examination sessions are painful and frightening for him. Both parents need each other's support and he needs both parents at his bedside as he undergoes these exams. The bottom line is: they need new transportation.
St. Valerius is hosting a Masquerade Ball on October 15th. For a tax deductible donation of $20.00 you can come and join the pageantry and excitement of this magical masquerade. Dress in your favorite costume and mask.( Face painting will be offered for those who wish it for no extra charge.) Raffles for products and services donated by local businesses will be held throughout this magical night. Spend the evening feasting on foods from out local restaurants and markets. Dance the night away to live music provided by Slam Buckra and his Groove Palookas. Be enchanted by a special guest performance by the eclectic belly dancing of Modern Gypsy. All this and for a worthy cause as well!
Purchase your tickets in advance at Bogbean Book Store on California Street and Fat Daddy’s BBQ on Hartnell Ave. As well, tickets will be available at the door.
Please help us to make this child's life as comfortable as possible. Please help us to make this goal a reality.
