What is it when I mean my laptop won't start up?
I've an Acer 5100 with upgraded 2 gig memory, ATI Radeon, Dual Core etc etc...just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista Home Premium. I bought it in Fall '07 if that helps.
This issue began early last month before upgrading to Win7. I'd start my laptop...but would not start up... Well, it would cuz I hear the hard drive boot up as well as the dvd burner come to life, but I won't get the acer start up screen. When that happened, I manually held down the power button for the required 8 seconds. I'd restart it again and it would all start up just fine. But the issue was gradual. I thought it was the memory so I pulled the cards out and put them back in. It seemed that worked but as the issue became worse, I began to wonder if it was a heat issue. So, I would let my comp rest 20 minutes before a restart. BTW, the worse this issue got, I couldn't get it to restart and had to wait a while to try and start it again.
As of last week - right before school started and when I need it most, I cannot even get it to start up to get into Bios. No acer screen, no windows, none of the Fkeys do anything... It starts up...but nothing loads. And if I let it sit there long enough, it seems to restart without restarting and I get the acer start up screen and windows 7 start to load...but suddenly the screen would go blank and everything would just...stop running, though I can still hear the hard drive running. Also, before it stopped...starting up, it would start up as usual but the screen wouldn't come on, stay blank.
I'm guessing it's officially a hardware issue. The HDD works just fine cuz I'm using it in my dad's Acer (which was dropped and it's hdd went crash). It's wifi is busted as well...
I need my computer...I miss my computer... I've an online class that requires a computer and I can't always rely on school computers to get log into that class.
HELP!!!?
Thanks!
