You can call me Lizard.
I play bass. I am thinking about moving to Redding in a couple years and I'm wondering what the music scene is like.
Are there a lot of venues?
Are there a lot of bands? Covers? Originals?
Do people go to shows?
What kind of bands are popular and do well in the area?
Any other comments are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

Hey lizard
Redding is a cover band kind of town. You won't be playing sets with other bands but you will end up playing Skynyrd covers for three hours. If you are a social guy, you'll make quite a few friends who will show up to shows.
Venues are limited mostly to a couple of a bars, the gaming casino, a restored theatre, and the occasional festival/event.

Thanks for the help. Honestly I wouldn't mind playing in a cover band or tribute for a change. I've always wanted to do an AC/DC or Led Zeppelin tribute, but Omaha (my current place of residence) already has one of each. Originals are too much work and they don't make any money. Well, most of them! As many times as I've gotten close, it just never quite happens. I'm just looking to scratch my musical itch, make some friends, entertain some people, and have some fun. As long as there are a few places to play I'll be happy. Maybe once I get some student loans paid off I'll open my own place, too.

The scene seems to be changing for the better we are getting all sorts of great bands from seattle and portland. the music is getting better but it seems the turn out is just as fickle as it ever was. but I have to say things are getting better ; )
