Using Google Earth you can view the world two ways.

You can view the world as an interactive 3D map. Redding is represented in low resolution, even though there are sparse locations in Shasta County in higher resolution. You can use the tour mode, with adjusted preferences to make the view lower, and 'drive' between towns. There are many things you can do with Google Earth.

You can view linked panoramic views of streets. Google has special cameras on vans that it sends to cities, towns, and the areas around them, and takes panoramic pictures about every twenty feet. Google Earth has panoramic pictures up to Gridley. So, if you plan to visit Gridley soon and need to see what it looks like at the street level, you can check it out on Google Earth.

I'm guessing that Google vans have already been in Red Bluff and the images are being processed. Soon we should be seeing Google vans in Redding soon.
