Older Nec LCD comes on shuts off
HI... I have a older 1700 Nec Multisync lcd. I got this for free from the in laws in hope of fixing and being able to use it for duel LCD. Hit the button to turn it on shows the display for like 4-5 secs and goes black.Check the cables and all the newbie stuff. And it seems fine thinking maybe power unit or back light. Further tips would be greatly appreciated.

Usually if you at least get some type of display the power unit is working, when the back light goes out you usually get a white screen, it sounds like the inverter to me, but they go for about $50.00 for that model, you can still buy that monitor on the internet for about $99.00, monitors are disposable now so most places don't work on them, cost more to fix than to replace. It also could be a fuse or a capacitor, but man that's a lot of work! Good luck!
