Hello everyone-
I am relocating to Redding in the next 2 months and am very excited about it. I have been there a few times to check out neighborhoods and schools (I have 2 little kids) and have found some areas & homes that I like, but I'd really appreciate some input from people who have lived in Redding a few years. What do you think about the area off of Bechelli by the new Blue Cross building & golf course? There is a new neighborhood going in-I think D R Horton is the builder. Is this a nice, safe residential area?? Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks-Kelly

Hi Kelly, I would hope with all the quality Realtors that visit the forum, hopefully someone can give you some insight. Any volunteers? I am pretty sure the area you are talking about is a very decent neighborhood.
Interestingly enough, I read this in todays paper:
Now that's motivation
The Associated Press reported last month that the top two honchos at national homebuilder D.R. Horton received nearly $1.6 million each in bonuses in 2007.
But that was chump change compared with the more than $12 million Chairman Donald R. Horton and CEO Donald Tomnitz got in the previous two years, AP reported.
D.R. Horton is building the River Crest subdivision in south Redding, across the street from Riverview Golf & Country Club.
With the housing slowdown, the company's board believes the bonuses are needed to help motivate its executive team.
=================================================
Hey I could use some motivation like that! I always find it intriguing that a company can go into a slump, lay off workers but then give the honchos raises that the hard working employees could use, Why motivate one when you can motivate many!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone have an opinion on Anderson?? Is it fairly close to Redding? Or will I spend too much time in the car going back and forth?

Anderson is so close to Redding they may as call it South Redding, takes about a whole 5 minutes to commute, easy traffic or actually no traffic. Anderson seems to be growing faster than Redding, much easier to relocate to for businesses. I've been thinking about moving there myself :-)

From what I have seen, you can get more land for your money in Anderson than Redding. I have seen some pretty good deals in Cottonwood, too, but that looks like it may be a little too far for me. Is Happy Valley part of Anderson?

Happy Valley IS part of Anderson, but farther west. I live in the Northern part of Cottonwood and it takes me about 15+ minutes to get into town. Not too bad. Happy Valley is at least that far out, if not farther. Happy Vally has future growth coming... We bought in Cottonwood a year ago, and don't regret it. We feel our 1+ acre is definitely worth it.

Yea, thanks for the sunshine, actually nice day on the lake, now if I could only figure out why the lake level is not going up, it's ridiculously low even after all the rain, it has to be some kind of conspiracy going on! and I'm not buying any of the "they are waiting for the snow melt so it doesn't get to high crap"! Actually we need to start a thread on why the lake (Shasta) is so low.
